PETROGLYPHS OF KAZAKHSTAN
The "Petroglyphs of Kazakhstan" coin series honors the ancient rock art monuments found throughout the country, particularly the Tamgaly archaeological landscape in the Almaty region, which was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004. This open-air location, discovered in the late 1950s, has attracted archaeological attention since the 1970s, showcasing unique rock carvings that reflect the worldview of the local people from over 4,000 years ago. The National Bank of Kazakhstan and the Kazakhstan Mint meticulously designed these coins to authentically represent the petroglyphs and embody the mystical essence of these sacred sites.
