A Gift for Him: Silver and Gold Coins of Kazakhstan When you want to give something truly out of the ordinary — not another gadget, not a piece of clothing,...

The 500-tenge silver coin is dedicated to the Tilashar rite and continues the “Rites and National Games of Kazakhstan” series. This custom holds a special place in Kazakh tradition: in the past, it was performed after a child began to say their first words, while today it is seen as a symbol of entering the world of knowledge and the beginning of education. The obverse features the State Emblem of the Republic of Kazakhstan set against an ornamental background; the country’s name is inscribed around the edge, and the denomination appears at the bottom. The reverse shows a composition with children’s drawings and elements of school-related imagery, conveying the idea of a child’s first steps into the world of learning. The reverse also includes information about the metal, the weight of 24 g, and the year of issue. The coin is made of .925 silver.
