Kazakhstan to issue AQYQ silver coin
The National Bank of Kazakhstan will issue the “AQYQ” collectible coin as part of the “Magic Symbols” series. Sales in the National Bank’s online store...

AQYQ (Carnelian) is a coin whose name echoes the Kazakh word “aqyq,” a term for semiprecious stones in the chalcedony group that have long been used in jewelry and decorative objects.
The artistic concept draws on the traditions of Kazakh jewelry-making. The design incorporates distinctive decorative techniques: granulation, ornamentation on the reverse side, and a carnelian inlay, which forms an important part of the overall composition.
The piece was conceived not only as a commemorative coin but also as a piece of jewelry: an opening is provided at the top through which a chain or cord can be threaded.
