Natural Gems of Kazakhstan Coin Series: Celebrating the Country's Iconic Landscapes

Natural Gems of Kazakhstan is the National Bank’s collector coin series devoted to the country’s landscapes. SHYMBULAQ opened the series on 17 December 2024, followed by BURABAY on 16 July 2026. SHYMBULAQ combines a mountain setting with skiing. A stylised map of Kazakhstan contains the ski resort and a skier, surrounded by petroglyphs and Saka-style motifs. Geographical coordinates appear at the lower right. Its mintage is 1,000. BURABAY uses the outline map to frame a colour view of a lake, woodland and rocks. The issue name and coordinates appear below the landscape. This rectangular coin measures 45 × 30 mm and has a mintage of 2,000. Both coins have a face value of 1,000 tenge, weigh 31.1 g and are struck in 925 silver with a proof finish. Colour printing and an iridescent interference coating form part of the design. The shared metal and weight make the two issues easy to compare, while their subjects, release dates and mintages distinguish them.
