Kazakhstan 50 ₸ coin dedicated to Lunokhod-1, the world’s first self-propelled vehicle to successfully operate on the surface of the Moon. This rover was delivered there on November 17, 1970, by the Luna 17 automatic station. During the mission, it transmitted scientific data to Earth, images of the lunar landscape, and information about the properties of the soil, which became an important milestone in space exploration. The vehicle remained in operation until October 4, 1971, and became an outstanding achievement of the Soviet space program. The coin is made of neyzilber, weighs 11.17 g, has a diameter of 31.00 mm, a face value of 50 ₸, and is issued in uncirculated quality. It reflects Kazakhstan’s interest in the history of cosmonautics and events related to the exploration of outer space.
