Issued by Kazakhstan in 2021 as part of the SPACE - KAZAKHSTAN series, this 500 ₸ proof coin is dedicated to Salyut-1, the world’s first space station. The theme reflects a major milestone in the history of human space exploration and recalls the beginning of long-term orbital missions. Salyut-1 became a symbol of scientific ambition, engineering progress, and the expansion of research beyond Earth. Struck in Ag 925 silver with a weight of 41.40 g, the coin presents this achievement in a refined commemorative format. Its subject links Kazakhstan with the broader history of cosmonautics, a field closely connected with the region through the legacy of Baikonur and the development of space programs.
