The 500 ₸ gold coin dedicated to Abulkhair Khan was issued by the National Bank of Kazakhstan in 2016 as part of the “Portraits on Banknotes” series. It is struck in 9999 gold and weighs 7.78 g. The issue is associated with the image of one of the notable historical figures of the Kazakh steppe, whose name holds an important place in the history of the 18th century. Abulkhair Khan is known as the ruler of the Junior Zhuz and a participant in the complex political processes of his time, when matters of external security, alliances, and the preservation of influence in the region were being decided. The use of his portrait on this commemorative coin highlights interest in national history and in individuals who left a significant mark on the formation of Kazakhstan’s statehood and historical memory.
