The 500 ₸ commemorative coin of Kazakhstan is made of .925 silver and weighs 31.10 g. Its artistic concept is connected with examples of the ancient art of the steppe nomads. The design features the motif of an ornamental plaque in the form of a reclining deer, one of the characteristic images found among the gold artifacts discovered during archaeological excavations of the Issyk burial mound in the Almaty Region. This monument dates to the late 4th to early 3rd century BC. The image of the deer conveys the distinctive features of the animal style that was widespread in the culture of early nomadic societies. The coin reflects interest in Kazakhstan’s historical heritage and draws attention to important archaeological finds associated with the ancient tradition of artistic metalworking.
