The 500 ₸ silver proof coin, weighing 24 grams, is dedicated to the narkobyz, one of the most ancient bowed instruments in the Kazakh musical tradition. The narkobyz holds a special place in the culture of the steppe and is associated not only with musical performance, but also with the spiritual beliefs of the people. In the past, it was used by baksy—traditional healers and keepers of sacred knowledge—during ceremonies and rituals. According to legend, the creation of this instrument is linked to Korkyt Ata, a legendary thinker, storyteller, and musician whose image occupies an important place in the history of the Turkic world. Struck in .925 silver, the coin reflects the significance of the narkobyz as a symbol of ancient musical memory, folk beliefs, and the continuity of Kazakhstan’s cultural traditions.
