The collector coin Tobol Thinker was issued in Kazakhstan as part of the Treasures of the Steppe series with a face value of 500 tenge. It is made of .925 silver and weighs 29.50 g. The issue is dedicated to the famous anthropomorphic sculpture known as the Tobol Thinker, which is kept in the National Museum of Kazakhstan. This find belongs to the group of ancient seated sculptures of the forest-steppe regions of Asia and dates to the end of the 3rd millennium to the beginning of the 2nd millennium BC. The sculpture was discovered in 1976 near Kostanay.
The obverse features the State Emblem of the Republic of Kazakhstan within an ornamental frame, with inscriptions around the edge indicating the name of the country and the denomination. The reverse depicts the Tobol Thinker against a background composition of scientific symbols conveying the idea of understanding the world, the origin of life, and the mysteries of the universe. The coin became the first bicolor piece in the series, made with a tantalum insert shaped to match the design.
