The 500 ₸ commemorative coin, struck in .925 silver and weighing 24.00 g, is dedicated to Korkyt Ata, an outstanding figure of the Turkic world who is revered as the forefather of the kobyz, a storyteller, musician, and composer. According to legend, he came from the Aral steppe region near the Syr Darya and lived in the 8th–9th centuries. His name is closely associated with ancient musical and spiritual traditions, and his image holds an important place in the cultural memory of Kazakhstan. In 1980, the Korkyt Ata Memorial Complex was established in Kyzylorda. On November 28, 2018, it was officially inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List as a cultural heritage site and is protected by the state.
