The collectible Year of the Tiger coin continues the Oriental Calendar series dedicated to the symbols of the twelve-year cycle. This is a 500 ₸ silver coin weighing 31.10 g, whose design incorporates motifs from the Oriental Calendar fountain in Almaty. Its artistic concept is based on the sculptural composition created by V. Tverdokhlebov together with A. Tatarinov and V. Katsev. The obverse features mythological symbols of the constellations from a celestial star map, as well as inscriptions indicating the issuing country. The reverse depicts a tiger as the symbol of the year 2021 in the Oriental calendar. Around the edge are the inscriptions “2021,” “SHYGYS KUNTIZBESI,” “VOSTOCHNYY KALENDAR,” and “ORIENTAL CALENDAR,” while the inner part shows the other eleven signs of the cycle. The coin is struck in the shape of a dodecagon, emphasizing the idea of the calendar circle and making this issue especially distinctive for collectors.
