The commemorative coin of Kazakhstan, “Leo,” continues the series dedicated to the signs of the zodiac. Its artistic design is executed in the style of rock art, giving the issue a distinctive character. The design features imagery associated with zodiac symbolism, as well as color accents corresponding to the element of the sign. One side bears the name of the National Bank of Kazakhstan, the zodiac signs, and a stylized sun, while the other depicts the zodiac constellation Leo, its conventional symbol, and its name. The coin has an unusual octagonal (eight-sided) shape. It is made of 25.00 g of .925 silver and tantalum, with a face value of 100 tenge. The issue combines the traditions of numismatic art with modern design technologies.
