The Aktau commemorative coin with a face value of 50 ₸ is dedicated to one of Kazakhstan’s notable cities on the coast of the Caspian Sea. It is made of nickel silver, and the coin weighs 4.71 g. In the center of the reverse is the coat of arms of the city of Aktau, which serves as the main compositional element and emphasizes the issue’s connection with the city’s symbolism. Around the edge is the inscription “QAZAQSTAN RESPUBLIKASY” in the state language. The minting year, 2012, is also shown here, separated from the inscription by dots. The design is framed by a raised rim, which completes the appearance and gives the composition clarity. The coin is part of a series dedicated to the architectural and historical monuments of Kazakhstan and reflects interest in the country’s cultural and regional heritage.
