The 50 tenge coin “Almaty” is made of nickel silver and weighs 4.71 g. On the obverse, the denomination “50 TENGE” is placed in the center. In the upper part, there is an ornamental eight-pointed rosette, while at the bottom a fragment of the national ornament is shown. To the right of the denomination appears the abbreviation “QUB.” The composition along the edge is completed by a raised rim. On the reverse, the coat of arms of the city of Almaty is depicted in the center. Around the circumference runs the inscription “REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN,” and the year of minting is also indicated, separated from the inscription by dots. The coin’s design follows the strict and recognizable style of the series dedicated to the architectural and historical monuments of Kazakhstan, while the image of the coat of arms emphasizes the importance of Almaty as one of the country’s most significant cities.
