The 50 tenge coin "Karaganda" is dedicated to one of the largest cities of Kazakhstan and is part of a series highlighting the country’s architectural and historical landmarks. It is made of nickel silver, weighs 4.71 g, and has a diameter of 23.00 mm. On the obverse, the denomination "50 TENGE" is placed in the center. In the upper part there is an ornamental octagonal rosette, while at the bottom there is an element of the national ornament, and to the right of the denomination appears the abbreviation "QUB". A raised rim runs along the edge. On the reverse, the coat of arms of Karaganda is shown in the center. Around the circumference is the inscription "REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN", and the year of minting, 2011, is also indicated, separated from the inscription by dots. The composition emphasizes the connection of the issue with the city’s symbolism and the overall theme of the series dedicated to significant sites and images of Kazakhstan.
